FAQ

Read This First!

As of July 2023 I am working full time as a dog groomer and only making polish in my very limited free time. I work weekends and evenings so turn around time for polishes is 1-2 weeks. I handmix orders as I recieve them, which can take a while. I am available for custom made polish requests.

Handmade in Small Batches

Moonflower Polish is a small home hobby business. Polishes are handmixed in small batches, and I also handle social media, shipping, and customer service. That means your order might take longer to ship, but it's cause each bottle is lovingly handcrafted for you.

Shipping

Orders ship via USPS First Class or Priority depending on the package weight.

Stockists

Currently not available with any stockist.

I just placed my order! How soon will it ship?

Normal turn around time is 5-10 business days. I work as a dog groomer and I'm a full time parent of 2, including a child with special needs. Polishes are made in small batches. It might take a little longer to ship orders out, since everything is being created just for you.

I got a shipping email! Does that mean you actually shipped them or do you print the shipping labels ahead of time?

If you got a shipping email, then it means I printed your label and stuck it to your package, which means I'll drop it off at the Post Office that same day or next.

Returns and Refunds

I can't accept any returns or refunds except on a case by case basis. Email me ([email protected]) within 3 days of receiving your order in case you have a problem.

Taxes

My shop is run on BigCartel and they collect taxes on all 50 US states.

Ingredients

My polishes are 5 free, they generally contain the following ingredients: Butyl Acetate, Ethyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose , Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Isobutyl Acetate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Adipic Acid / Neopentyl Glycol / Trimellitic Anhydride Copolymer, Silica, Styrene / Acrylates Copolymer, N-Butyl Alcohol, Benzophenone-1, D&C Violet #2. May also contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Tin Oxides, Chromium Oxide Green, Ultramarines, Ferric Ferrocyanide, D&C Lakes (Black 2, Red 6, Red 7, Red 30, Red 34, Yellow 10), FD&C Lakes (Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6), Spectraflair.

They do not have formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, toluene, or dibutyl phthalate (the big 5 toxic ingredients). In addition, they also never contain lead, gluten (some nail treatments use wheat protein as a strengthener), xylene, parabens, or fragrances...which technically makes them just as safe as any polish brand that advertises as 7 or 10 free, since most 5 free ail polishes never contain these ingredients in the first place.

Are your polishes vegan and cruelty free?

I always try my hardest not to use animal based products. Currently the polishes are all carmine free and vegan. They are 100% cruelty free as neither I nor my suppliers test the products on animals.

Miscellaneous

Your polish stained my stamper/mat!

The polishes meant for stamping and nail art are highly pigmented. This means that they might stain and will be thicker than regular polish.

The polishes look weird and funky in the bottle! There's some white stuff sticking to the sides/bottom of the bottles, what is it? Are they ruined?

Because they don't have the ingredients that are typically used to help the pigments stay mixed up well together in the bottle, 5 free polishes tend to commonly have some separation of pigments. That's why two stainless steel mixing balls are included in every bottle! Just give them a gentle shake to mix everything back up.

Sometimes the white pigment used to make creme polishes can settle in the bottom or stick to the sides of the bottles. We call that "Ugly Bottle Syndrome" or UBS. If your bottles have UBS, it shouldn't affect the color inside or it's ability to stamp. I try my hardest to make sure that doesn't happen, but some colors simply use more of that white pigment than others and it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Do you smoke or have pets? I have allergies to x ingredient... or other special concerns.

Polishes are mixed and packaged in a smoke free home, but I have 2 dogs.

If you're allergic to anything like nuts or pet dander and are concerned about cross contamination, email me so I can be sure to take the extra precautions when mixing, bottling, and packaging your order.

Can you make me a custom polish?

Custom made polishes start at $10, email me for more info.
